I forgot to let everyone know that we made it home safely and with out incident. A first for us, I can assure you.
We got in late Friday night so we spent the night in Birmingham. On Saturday, after a quick trip to Whole Foods (to stock up on gluten free stuff we can't get here), Super Target and PF Chang's, we headed home.
I have been falling asleep on the couch between 8 and 9pm, and waking up as early as 4am. I can't wait until my clock resets itself.
I have spent the last few days grocery shopping, picking out paint colors (I wasn't kidding when I said we were tired of living like transients) and trying to get re-used to an American keyboard.
I also wasn't kidding about decluttering after we got home. Living with so little really makes you think about what you really need to be happy. I have a van full of stuff to go to the thrift store tomorrow.
Just wait until you see the paint colors we picked out! I big puffy heart love them. Tomorrow we are going to paint the TV cabinet that we sanded 100 years ago (give or take) and paint color swatches on the walls to make sure the color looks good in all lighting. Keep your fingers crossed that they do. I am so indecisive and it took for-stinking-ever to pick these colors, I do not want to start the process again. This apartment gets almost no natural light - we are in the back of the building, surrounded by trees, and the only light source for the living room, dining room and kitchen is a sliding glass door. Colors can be tricky.
We also have a surprise in the works that I am not sure I can tell you about, because the surprisee sometimes reads my blog. He goes away for a General Manager conference in October, so all of the magic will happen then. Until then, I might be able to show you bits and pieces as I slowly sneak them in to the house, but the big reveal will have to wait.
Ok, I am off to make dinner before I fall asleep. :o/
